AWR says it’s missing but it’s plugged in

Hi, I restarted my Roku because it wasn’t working and now I’m getting a message saying the AWR is not detected. I’m 100% sure everything is plugged in but it doesn’t seem to be picking it up. Please advise

Re: AWR says it’s missing but it’s plugged in

@Lizandchris-

The AWR (Advanced Wireless Receiver) is the lump built into the USB power cord for recent Roku Streaming Stick models.  The WiFi receiver for these Streaming Sticks is in this lump, not inside the Roku itself.  If this goes bad, you not only cannot make a WiFi connection to your network, but since your remote connects via WiFi you also can't do anything on the Streaming Stick with your remote.

Replacements are available from Roku for about $20:
Version for Streaming Sticks 3810/3811
Version for 4K Streaming Sticks 3820/3821
