telnet (ip address) 8080 nothing happens

when I go to CMD and type telnet (my ip address) 8080 nothing pops up, just a blank black screen..

before it would work and I can type Genkey so I can get the password to package the file.. is there a way around using cmd?

I highly recommend using Putty if you are on a PC. It is free:

Also, make sure that you have developer mode enabled on your device, it may reset if there was a recent software update.

Also make sure you're not connected in another cmd window. The Roku only allows one connection per port at a time, so if you're connected in another window, you'll see what you're describing.

And if none of the above suggestions help (all are good ones) reboot the Roku.

Did you enable developer mode, and accept the developer agreement on your device?
