The only reason Roku uses these metrics is keep their streaming partners in line and cut the chaff. Jack be nimble. Jack be quick. Jack jump over the candlestick. If Jack were too slow Jack would get burned. That is all the metrics do is protect Jack when he is streaming.
I do not think the 2D interfaces are subject to the same scrutiny that the SG interfaces are. Jack is free to do as Jack wants at whichever speed Jack finds himself doing things without fear of some overlord asking Jack to speed it up and move along.
