This source indicates that roSystemLog does not work for SceneGraph apps (https://developer.roku.com/docs/developer-program/core-concepts/scenegraph-brightscript/brightscript...

However, both bandwidth.minute and http.error work as intended in my SceneGraph.  Is this a know issue that only http.connect does not work? Or, am I doing something wrong? I'd like to get http.connect to trigger when I set my poster's uri field, but that is obviously not happening.

If http.connect does not work for SceneGraph apps, is there a good alternative to enable me to monitor the http requests happening within my app?

According to Roku it should, if you are using the same port as the main port.

but then no guarantees, so u could setup charles/wireshark or something like that to capture network logs.:
