questions about creating a Roku channel
So I'm thinking about creating a Roku channel. However I had a question about where is a good place to go to get content for the channel. I have some of my own stuff but would like to add a variety of programming to the channel.

You've posted to a forum for Roku users, where few, if any, will be able to help. The Developers forums are a couple of doors down the hall: https://community.roku.com/t5/Developers/ct-p/channel-developers

Re: questions about creating a Roku channel
To add what @makaiguy mentioned, you can't just get content from anywhere you find it. Most content online has copyright protection, and you can't simply grab it from their site and use it in something you create, unless you're only using it for your own personal use. If you provide content for public consumption, you must have legal permission from the content owners. If you own the content, then no problem. But acquiring it from other sources requires permission. This is part of the Roku Terms of Use Agreement for developers, and Roku will not certify your channel without showing you have such permissions.
