Would it be possible to sell items such as mp3s (you own the content rights of course) from a in app purchase and save them to the usb drive?
Thanks in advance.

The registry is the only read/write persistent store available to applications. Temporary read/write file storage within a single run of an application is provided by the tmp: device. You might be able to use a personal cloud hosting provider like Google Drive, Dropbox, et al, to save the file there (of course, that would require significantly more code from both your channel and web service, and for the user to supply account details for the hosting provider..). Whole 'nother can of worms 😕

Re: in app purchase
An in-app purchase to have your web server email them a file would work, provided their mail client can handle the attachment size.

Thanks for your responses. I was looking at the email option as well.
