How do you change a private channel code? I wanted a new code for my private channel.

you can change your Vanity code by clicking on your channel in your account, clicking edit channel, then edit properties. Change the vanity code, then click continue. Then, re-upload your channel and click publish. The new vanity code should now be in effect.

When I tried adding a channel using my new code, its says my vanity code is invalid. The random code ROKU gave me works but not the vanity access code. FYI my channel is not published yet.

Vanity codes only work with the published version of the channel.
