Well, what does this mean:

Packager (no dev key)

I do not recall generating a key. If I did it was months ago and would have been when I was in the middle of the build and had a computer crash and lost a lot of files.

So what is the next step?

First time publishing a private channel and I see no files / records of gen key info. I used telnet just now to ip port 8085 and typed genkey to see what would happen and it did nothing. Of course...

With the last firmware update, you might need to re-enable dev mode on the roku before anything there will work again.
If you want to save whatever registry data you had before for your channel you should be able to inspect and copy in an existing key provided you know the password for an existing pkg.

Used telnet ip 8080

brings up a code that begins with 13xxxxxxx and that's all it shows. Do I type in "genkey"

Took out of developer mode and then reanabled.

I've had to start and stop many times during the build to travel etc and I don't recall doing the genkey. I have looked through my roku files and don't see any reference to it or copies. Hopefully when the computer crashed during the build that I did not have it there because means that file is lost now.

If you have previously packaged an app, you can recover the key by using the Rekey tool on the Utilities page (but you need the password for the key).
If you have never previously packaged an app, just run genkey to generate a new key.

I have not previously published or submitted a channel package per say as a private or public channel. I have used the browser plugin page to upload zip files to test it on my own device.

Using the browser to the ip and 8080 I tried it again typing "genkey" and I got

Just to make sure I don't break things..I go to the packager using my browser and ip to the device , then save a package and use that package to upload from my channels page, correct?
