When adding your own channel logo into the banner images, what are the correct dimensions? At present I am pretty sure mine are off:

overhanglogo
HD 280x70
SD 160x40

overhangbackground (png)
HD 1281x168
SD720x110

When I started building and learning I am not sure where I found such dimensions. I realize they aren't correct but what are the correct sizes to be? I have my own logo that I placed into the banner but re-doing it since it was one of the first things I tackled when I started the channel.

The official docs say:

The suggested maximum Overhang height is 83 pixels for SD and 124 pixels for HD. The enforced maximum Overhang height is 92 for SD and 138 for HD. Between the suggested maximum height and the enforced maximum height is a transition area in which application developers should alpha blend their Overhang art into the screen background.

Art rendered in the Overhang transition area (83 - 92 px for SD and 124 - 138 px for HD) will be rendered over by the Filter Banner, Modal Dialogs, and other native UI widgets. Application developers should not assume that the art in the Overhang transition zone will always be viewable by the end user.

Width is going to be 1280 for HD mode, and 720 for SD mode.

Overhang logo can be whatever width you want and the height constraint is the same as the Overhang. Should be a .png with transparency enabled so that it can overlay the background.

Great, looks like mine was off just a hair or 1281 versus 1280.

If your overhang is a solid color or a repetitive pattern, you can minimize the size of your pkg (always a good thing) by making the slice just a few pixels wide. It will be repeated horizontally across the full width.
