Re: New Update and m3u8 streams

thanks joel, it now works. yesterday some urls were not working. Today some other were not working.. Now its fixed.. Thank you

Quick question .. Now the stream gets loaded very slow .. Almost 45 seconds from play button to begin of playing.
Is this due to no Bitrate? How to fix this?

Re: New Update and m3u8 streams

Putting it another m3u8 didnt help But making bitrate zero helped But i see that the streams are taking so much time to load with 0 bitrate. Any one else has this issue?
How to fix it?

Re: New Update and m3u8 streams

Re Wrap it as I explained in a M3U8 formated file. Beside changing the extension to m3u8 you need to follow the M3U8 coding rule. No need to change your bitrate as this slows down the loading.

Re: New Update and m3u8 streams

david, it wull not help since encryption generates the url and its done by streaming software. Any page to check the firmware released for models so that i can check when updates goes . Google gives some page which was not updated after 2013....
No way to check unless i buy all boxes with date...

set your bitrate to 0 and see if that fixes it.

Joel,

I understand that this is a workaround, if a stream url used to work in a previous firmware with other birates configuration and after the upgrade it reboots (!) the device, it's a bug.

At least an exception should be raised with a meaningful error message.

Should we expect a fix for this on the next update?

Marcelo

Re: New Update and m3u8 streams

It seems likely that a patch for this will likely be released in the near future.

Re: New Update and m3u8 streams

Do we have a patch released yet? Besides setting the bitrate to 0's.... that is not a solution, thats a hack to avoid the actual problem, and it causes more problems by causing 1-4 minute load times.

I'm not sure I follow the "rewrapping" m38u's... and is that an actual solution?

TBH, the real solution is an actual Roku Device fix... On that note, is there a CHANGELOG for Roku Firmware?? If you don't have one, make one please.

Re: New Update and m3u8 streams

This should have been addressed in the most recent 6.1 build release on the 12th.

Re: New Update and m3u8 streams

This issue appears to have come up again on the Roku Premiere+ v 7.2.2 Build 7146-29. Joel, any new ideas? The .m3u8 works fine on Roku 3 and the MP4s work fine on both players, however, the .m3u8 causes a freeze requiring a hard reboot on the Premiere+. Note that the bitrate is set to 0.
