Movie Playback Crashing

Hi guys, I am having a problem with Roku playback with many movies where they play for a while and then crash.

The movies are encoded in H264 Baseline profile 3.0 and it's crashing around the same spot but you can fast forward past that mark and it's fine.

Here's an example of the output:
showVideoScreen | msg = | index= 890
(Debuggggg) http://www.bigstar.tv/apis/serverApi?me ... nds=%20890
showVideoScreen | msg = mp4 demux: sample overflow; corrupt file | index= 0
Video status: 0 0
showVideoScreen | msg = The format is not supported or the media is corrupt. | index= -5
Video request failure: -5 0
showVideoScreen | msg = | index= 0

Re: Movie Playback Crashing

The error message indicates that the file is not a valid MPEG4 file. Does it play correctly on a non-Roku player? What tool are you using to encode them? Is it possible to put one of these files on a public server and PM the URL to me?

Re: Movie Playback Crashing

I had a similar problem. Movies gave me random errors of
MP4 Demux: sample overflow; corrupt file

Movie plays fine in browser window, in VLC, only fails in Roku.

I had the Roku bitrate set to a fixed 3.5MB. I changed the setting to automatic and the problem went away.

How do you change this?
On Roku remote, press:
Home 5 times
Rewind 3 times
Fast forward 2 times

Menu appears- set to automatic.

Hope that helps.
