Local network Roku discovery.

I'm looking at the possibility of making a Windows app to control and launch channels on Roku, just like the smartphone app. So I'm wondering, when the app usually discovers devices on the local network, I assume it does a port scan on ip addresses *.*.*.1 - *.*.*.255, and if so, which port and what response does it look for? or is that all proprietary information?

It'd just be nice since i work on my laptop a lot while watching my Roku, it'd just be nice to pop up a remote app on screen.

Plus I lost my remote...

Re: Local network Roku discovery.

There's already a Windows 8 app (http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-US ... 2826ba2abe). You could also use http://remoku.tv.

With that being said, you don't do an IP address or port scan. You'd use SSDP as detailed here: http://sdkdocs.roku.com/display/sdkdoc/ ... ryProtocol

Re: Local network Roku discovery.

I can't use the windows store, because of the Administrator account i'm using on my computer or can't switch to a local account or something? I dunno. I can't figure that out. Is there a non-windows store download of that?
