HELP Needed ...Subscription Tier Keeps showing FREE ....Why?

Jump to solution

Building a new monthly subscription channel. (I am already on roku billing because I have other subscription channels but they were built quite sometime ago.) It seems since I submitted the last subscription channel a few things may have changed. Or, maybe I have missed a step.

What I am trying to figure out is will a channel listed in the "manage channels" page only show the subscription tier after it is published? Or, should it be showing the tier of pricing I chose before it is published? It is showing as

Purchase Type: None (Free)

Tier: 0

For the channel's monetization I have checked the box beside:

My Channel Contains In-channel subscriptions.

I have also gone to the page for "manage in-channel products" and added the new channel to it and have chosen the monthly subscription option and the pricing tier.

Have I missed a step? Or, will it only change from Free to the pricing tier I chose after the channel is published?

I thought the pricing tier would show as soon as I chose and would change from free to the option I chose.

Any insight on this is appreciated.

Re: Subscription Tier Not Showing

Partner Sussess was quick to reply and help.

The problem was this...it had been a while since I had originally published one of my subscription channels. What changed since the time I published it was SDK channels no longer show the price in the channel store but says may require additional fees. So, all I had to do was set the in-channel subscription like I had done and set the fee. It was correct on the publisher dashboard page where it kept showing FREE Tier 0 because it's free to add the channel but to play the channel is when it requires the payment.

On one of my already published monthly subscription channels the channel page shows in the summary it is FREE but the in-channel products page shows it correct for the monthly subscription tier of $1.99

Why does it keep changing to show FREE? for the channel summary??

Also, the new updates were scheduled for testing today. But it shows publishing was canceled due to me making a change. The only change I recall making was on the server side playlist to delete a video file.

I sent a ticket to partner success but it says it might be 2 days before I hear back.

Does anyone else have a monthly subscription channel where the channel summary keeps changing to FREE tier 0? Now I can't schedule the updates I guess until I find out why it keeps showing FREE because I don't want them to publish updates as FREE. This is so frustrating.

Pic 1 shows from the manage channels page that the channel is monetized and not FREE but when I go to the channel page the 2nd pic shows it as FREE. I'm trying to submit updates but can't until I know it will retain it's monthly subscription payment tier. Why does it say FREE? I wrote partner success but no reply yet.

Am I the only one that has this problem?

Published channel is a monthly subscription.

Tried to submit updates and it says it's FREE Tier 0. I chose the box for in-channel subscriptions, and billing testing is working and it shows the $1.99 a month subscription in that area but as the pics in the above post show the main channel page for publishing says FREE.

Any one have any input? It seems there aren't as many people in this forum to reply like it used to be months ago.
