Creating content for USA when Dev is not in USA

I am looking into the technical and license requirements for building channels designed for the USA and Canadian market. No problem so far... but what do you do when you are the developer and you are not in those markets... to even VIEW those markets content and therefore test your own product online... you need to have a USA Roku account. Which when you create the developer account will transfer those same US details into your Developer account... BUT I am not in the USA.

What is the correct way that Roku wants us to do this ? As I have vast content for development and don't want to do it wrong and jeopardise my position with Roku and any possible breach of terms and conditions.

Any help from Roku would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Guy

Re: Creating content for USA when Dev is not in USA

If the client you are developing channels for is blocking non-USA ip addresses, then you need to get them to make an exception for you. During the testing phase of your channel, you could set the channel properties to allow UK usage so that you could fully test your channel on a UK device.

Internally we use VPNs for international testing, so that is another approach, as long as you don't violate any agreements by streaming unauthorized content (i.e. Netflix and other content that is not available in UK).
