Checking user's geolocation
Hello ,
I would like to ask whether there are any ways for detecting user's location in Roku besides relying on IP address? Can we detect the user's location via Wifi access points or through GPS like smartphones do.

Re: Checking user's geolocation
No, Roku has no GPS chip. Phones have one because are used for maps/navigation.

Re: Checking user's geolocation
Hello ,
Thank you for your reply. May I ask whether we can detect one of those on Roku device:
- Detecting the BSSID of the wifi router that the device is connecting to ?
- Detecting the surrounding wifi access points that the device can scan ?
Thanks,

Re: Checking user's geolocation
I have the same gripe
my ISP just changed my IP to an out of state IP and now I get local TV from miles away. My ISP says that they can do this at their discretion unless I pay for a static IP
would be very helpful if Roku allowed users to set geolocation. I would be willing to pay for this as a premium service.
