Voice remote controls tv but won’t work with Roku

I have reset the Roku device. I have changed the batteries in the remote. The Voice remote will control the tv, ie, turn tv on/off; change volume and mute. However when I try to use on the Roku device it will not allow me to choose channels. This is frustrating!! Please help!! Thank you in advance!!
