Got a new Onn 32” Roku TV, tried to do the initial wifi setup by selecting the network name and typing in the password using the remote that came with the TV, but it wouldn’t connect. Have an android phone and iPad connected on the same network all working fine.
The wifi password is a long one with random characters. It’s possible that some of the characters on the tv-screen-keyboard doesn’t exactly match some of the characters in the password. For example, the ' character in the password looks like ’ on the tv-screen-keyboard, and doesn’t seem to have any other options that are much closer to and/or is exactly the same as the actual password character.
Thought about changing the password but really don’t want to go through with it at all. Are there any other ways to do it, to be able to maybe copy/paste the password in or still typing it in but without using the remote/tv-screen-keyboard?
Unfortunately, until it is connected to a network, the remote is the only way to control the Roku. To be honest, putting all sorts of weird characters in a password doesn't really help security all that much, and can cause problems. Try to use just standard text and basic punctuation symbols like exclamation marks and similar. Same with making it insanely long. There is a point of diminishing returns. Most hacking would come from a compromised device inside your network, not someone hacking into your WiFi.
It makes the most sense. Thanks for the explanation and clarification.
