I have a Roku Express hooked up to my TV and my gaming remote just stopped being able to control volume. I tried to set it up again but the screen said that the remote is not compatible with volume controls. I thought that was a load of **bleep** because it worked before. Does anyone know how to fix? I have reset it multiple times, paired it multiple times, and I have to use the volume controls on the back of the TV which is so infuriating. The remote model is RC35.
The Gaming remotes with volume commands were originally only used to control the headphone volume, but after an upgrade to Roku it could control some tv brands volume. Those that it worked nothing had to be turned on, it just worked.
Skip the tv programming option in your Roku settings. Just make sure CEC is enabled on the tv. If it is try just unplugging the tv and roku for bit from the power. Then plug them back in, give it time to recognize each other as a CEC device, it won't be instantaneous.
If this remote is too old to have tv IR on board, it may only control the tv volume by cec. Choose CEC instead IR during tv programming.
I can’t do that because it says the remote isn’t compatible with TV controls. It won’t let me click it.
