It sounds like your remote needs to be paired. Locate the pairing button on the back or inside the battery compartment and press and hold it until the green light starts flashing. If there's no pairing button, press and hold the Home and Back buttons until the light starts flashing. This assumes you have a voice remote that requires pairing.
