I'm not sure what series my ultra is, but it's connected to a Samsung QA55 smart tv. The voice control remote series 2 that I purchased to replace the orginal series 1 remote all of a sudden stopped controlling the volume. It turns off/on the TV but the volume can only be controlled by the original Samsung remote. Followed all the steps to set up the remote for controlling the TV, but the sound never stops playing during the setup process. It used to work and now it's broken.

What other steps could I follow to get it working again?

Have you tried both the CEC and IR options when setting up the remote to control the TV?  For the CEC option to work, you may have to enable it in the TV's settings.  Samsung refers to it as "Anynet+".
