Ok i i just factory reset my roku but i dont have my remote i have the app for the remote but its not finding device help
Hi, @Brookscherry420
A warm welcome here in the Roku Community.
We'd be pleased to assist. Did you have any issues with your Roku remote? Also, please be informed that Roku mobile app that functions as a remote must be connected to the same network as the Roku device, and it must be activated first to to enable the Roku mobile app as a remote.
We look forward to your response.
All the best,
Kash
Having performed a factory reset on your Roku, you have wiped out its memory of your network connection so none of the "no remote" work-arounds can be used. At this point your only recourse to reconnect is to use a compatible physical remote.
You say this is a Roku stick, but some people call all Rokus "sticks". If this is truly a Roku Streaming Stick model (with a male HDMI plug rather than a female HDMI socket) it has no infrared (IR) receiver so the only available remotes that will work with it are the Roku Voice Remote and Voice Remote Pro which control the Roku via WiFi. In addition to purchasing directly from Roku, you may be able to find them locally much more quickly at sources like Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, etc. or online from Amazon, eBay, etc.
The reason it can’t find the device is because it isn’t connected to a Network yet. The only way to Use the remote app, instead of the physical remote, is if the streaming device/TV has already been connected to the same wireless network as the device with the remote app. Obviously, if you’ve already done a factory reset, It won’t be connected to any network anymore, So the only way to connect it to a network is by hardwiring it or getting a replacement remote
