Remote periodically freezing requiring hitting the pairing button or plugging in a micro usb charger
I have a very similar problem with the remote periodically freezing requiring hitting the pairing button or plugging in a micro usb charger to reset. It appears to be either a wireless release incompatibility with the TV or a channel conflict. I don’t have enough documentation to troubleshoot it . Not sure Roku and TCL at this point plan on doing anything about it. My best guess is to order a remote from TCL for my TV. It’s likely an older model but at least it works consistently.

Thank you for posting here in the Roku Community, @Ponchojack!
We appreciate you sharing your remote concern here. We'd be happy to provide further information and suggest some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot your remote:
If your voice remote uses standard AA or AAA alkaline batteries, use the following steps to reboot your remote by removing and reinstalling the batteries.
- Remove the battery cover on the back of your remote
- Remove both batteries from the battery compartment
- Re-insert the negative (-) end of a battery first and then gently push the positive (+) end until the battery clicks into place
- Repeat the previous step to install the second battery
- Put the battery cover back on your remote
If your voice remote has a rechargeable battery, follow the steps below below to reboot your remote
- If your rechargeable voice remote has a pairing button, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote for 20 seconds.
- If your rechargeable voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds.
If the issue persists, we strongly advise contacting TCL. They manufacture their own player hardware, including the remote control. It might need a replacement.
Furthermore, we also offer the Roku TV Remote, which works well with all Roku TV models.
Best regards,
Carly
