Re: Latest software update broke using LG TV remote on Roku streaming 4k stick
Yes did that. Other folks have the same issue after the update. At this point it's up to the Roku technical team to fix and send out a new update.

Roku killed third party remotes when they updated Roku in Dec '24
When Roku updated their software recently, it killed my Logitech remote. I tried buying two other remotes and had the same problems. It took me 24 hours of fussing with my system to learn that you have to reset Roku setup to get third party remotes to work again. This new version contains additional settings that aren't well known. I had not yet changed/deleted/reinstalled the Watch Roku activity or the Roku device on my Harmony hubs, nor did I need to. The following change on the Roku’s solved the issue: Settings > System > Advanced System Settings > Control by Mobile apps > Network access. Change the setting to “Permissive”. I can once again control the Roku via the Harmony Hub remotes and the Harmony iPhone app. Hope the same works for you.

Re: Latest software update broke using LG TV remote on Roku streaming 4k stick
Thanks but my issue was caused by the last software update. Roku will fix it eventually.

Re: Latest software update broke using LG TV remote on Roku streaming 4k stick
Hi Community Users!
- Use the directional pad on your Roku TV remote to scroll down and select Settings
- Navigate to System > Advanced system settings
- Select Control by mobile apps
- Select from the following settings based on the level of access you need:
- Limited - Control by mobile apps is restricted to text input, app launches and accessing your activity within the app itself. The app can only control devices that are part of your Wi-Fi network
- Enabled - Your Roku device can always be controlled by mobile apps, but it will only respond to commands from devices that are connected to the same local network
- Permissive - Any device within and outside your network could potentially send all commands to your Roku device

Re: Latest software update broke using LG TV remote on Roku streaming 4k stick
Thank you for this suggestion. Another user who was using the Roku Remote app said this fixed his issue. Unfortunately it does not fix the issue of using a physical OEM TV remote. In my case it's an LG remote. It always worked, until the last Roku software update. There must be something else that the update changed.

Re: Latest software update broke using LG TV remote on Roku streaming 4k stick
We had the same issue after the most recent update. Our Universal Remote Control would no longer control our Roku Ultra. Our home system installer found the solution mentioned above - changing the remote access to "enabled." URC remote is fully functional after that change. Here's a video explaining it:
