We just got a new roku premier,  when watching a series it does not pick up where we left off, seems like it keeps running after we switch back to regular tv.  Is there some set up that we need to do?

This is a function of the channel, not of the Roku itself.  Some channels, especially the ones you must !og into, do a good job of this.  Others don't even try.

my old roku did return where you left off, the new one doesn't, so there must be a setting somewhere. any ideas?

On what channel(s).  Have you logged into them with the new Roku?
