Re: Video Ads Autoplaying on Homescreen

100% will toss all my Rokus if this intrusive **bleep** stays. Charge more for the box of you need to, get more revenue share from content providers, but don't do this. This defeats the point of moving off cable and paying for ad free content. Apple TV here I might come.

Re: Video Ads Autoplaying on Homescreen

Got my 2nd home page Moana video ad just now, first one was about a week ago.  There was a close button but that doesn't matter, all five rokus have to go in the trash.  So disappointing...

Re: Ads are intrusive to the point of insanity

I agree.

Roku just keeps getting worse and worse.

Roku has Ads during programming...ok...but they are getting more frequent and longer to the point of ruining all immersion and enjoyment of a program.

There are Ads on the pause screen...

Some programming has Lower Third Ads run during it...

There are Ads mixed into the menu of shows more and more now...

Entire Categories are just Ads for premium channels and Sponsored Content now...

There are Ads to the Left of the Apps Menu...

There is a giant Ad to the Right of the Apps Menu...

There is a Row of Ads at the Top of the Apps menu Since Last year...

AND NOW - Every time I come out of Screen Saver or Power on my Roku Stick a full screen AD!

Enough FFS!  Roku just keeps getting worse and worse.  You(Roku) have removed so much content and replaced it with Ads for pemium content and subscription services, and it seems like every update is just looking for new places and ways to squeeze in more ads.  Roku has removed so many apps and channels too...l it's disgusting.

Now I will consider any device with built in Roku a negative and a great excuse to buy a different device.

Re: Ads are intrusive to the point of insanity

Go into the Settings/Accessibility menu and disable auto-play videos and you can get rid of the full screen ads. It's something that the federal ADA laws are forcing on devices, so don't be surprised if the same thing happens on other platforms.

Autoplaying pop-up Ads on my Home Screen

Roku is using screen real estate to automatically play video when I first open my Rokus. This is highly abhorrent behavior from a company that once balanced the delicate line of ad space without it being intrusive.

this is NOT OK! I have paid for the high end devices and have 3 of them plus a Roku tv in my office. This was a BAD decision.

Re: Home screen hijacked by autoplay ads

well im on board to switch to something else if this continues. 5 Roku 3 are suddenly doing it. cant be wakening people up when i get up not expecting my Roku to suddenly start playing when i wake it up.

that and i don't like adds. especially ones im forced to consume. had to turn off tv to stop it..... home button just laughed at me.

Re: Home screen hijacked by autoplay ads

disabling that feature stopped all my previews of content but did not stop the auto video adds on home screen...... that's another problem entirely.

Go to "Settings/Accessibility/Auto play video" and change it to OFF.

Re: Video Ads Autoplaying on Homescreen

I feel your frustration. I am also seeing these pop up full screen video ads on the homescreen and I despise them. I've been using Roku devices since about 2013, if I remember correctly. I've recommended them to countless people. I won't continue recommending Roku and I'll likely also start looking at other options if these ads continue. It's invasive and you know it'll become a "wait X seconds to skip this ad." No. This sucks. Knock it off Roku.
