Jump to solution

Hi @Samplemaven,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thanks for letting us know about the trouble you've experienced with the screen reader, which is not turning off.

We want to learn more about it to see how we can help, but we need more details.

  • What Roku device are you currently using? (e.g., Roku Express, Roku Streambar, Roku TV—please specify the model)
  • Are there any changes in the setup or settings of your Roku device or your network provider that might cause the problem?
  • Does the issue only occur on a specific channel or all the channels installed on your Roku device?
  • Are you encountering any error codes or messages?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you taken so far to resolve the issue?

With more detailed information, we'll be able to assist you further.

All the best,
Chel

@Samplemaven, the screen reader doesn't call out volume levels for a Roku device connected to a TV.  It's most likely your TV doing it.  Check it's settings and/or manual for accessibility options.

Neither of these steps are turning it off.  any other ideas.  I also have a Tivo remote for my cable box.  could that be the problem?

@KCVB, what is "it"?  As stated above, if your TV is calling out volume levels that has nothing to do with your Roku device.  The Roku Screen Reader reads menus and text that appear on Roku apps.  Is that what your hearing or something else?
