I’ve had my Roku 3 for at least 4 years and in the past few days it has started turning itself on. I first noticed after I had been out of town for a week and saw that the light was on. I turned on the tv to find that it was on the Roku home screen. I left it on long enough to see that the screensaver came on and the light on the Roku went off. The next day I noticed the light on again and it was the same as the day before. I had not touched the remote. I unplugged the device for a while and plugged it back in later. Kept happening. I took the batteries out of the remote. Kept happening. Today I did a factory reset and it’s still turning on by itself. It has never done this before. It is not turning on the tv or anything else. What’s going on and how do I stop it?
Did it recently update to software version 10.5? Check from Settings->System->About. If so, it's a known issue:

It looks like that might be what’s going on. When I searched I only found solutions for Roku turning the tv on but guess I used the wrong terms. Thanks.
Similar issues but my Roku comes on when watching broadcast TV. I have updated to latest version and reset unit, still have problems.
Thanks for the post.
Can you please specify the issue you are experiencing? What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
With more detailed information, we will be able to assist you further.
Thanks,
Danny
While viewing broadcast tv or other apps, roku will come on by itself to interrupt. Very frustrating. I have checked with my tv customer service but it’s not the tv because it happens with my other tv as well.
All I need to do is watch broadcast tv, have the roku express plugged into the television and at some point, the roku will interrupt what I’m watching and come on without me doing anything.
I'm assuming this is a separate Roku device connected to a TV, not a Roku TV that has Roku functionality built in.
If Settings > System > Control other devices > 1-Touch play is checked, an inadvertent touch of the remote can do this. If yours is checked, try unchecking and see if that takes care of it.
The downside: You'll have to use the TV's remote to switch to the input to which your Roku is connected.
I did just go into settings and change that which you suggested and waiting to see if it improves, thanks.
FYI, this is a roku express I’m using
