This is about stuff added with the most recent version of RokuOS and it is very specific.
The way you talk about stuff it's as if you think people here are referring to a PC or phone app, They are not
Do you even own a Roku?
I agree with @wildsprite
Let's not fight amongst ourselves.
The real issue is with the way Roku is treating it's customer base.
This evening, I found that I can now remove Categories and Browse rows. They finally fixed it.
Woohoo! Time to close this festering thread.
Thanks for this update in particular. It looks like you will have to go to
Settings>Home screen>Recommendation rows and select "Hide". You may have to do this on each of your devices. I've done two of mine so far. I will address the five or six after I get up.
Next, leave a Thank you note to ROKU for listening to us. Its the civil thing to do.
Thank every one of you for your part, now let's get back to enjoying our streaming platform.
They (finally) have the option to turn it off in settings.
(I was linked to a string of 40+ pages of comments about the same topic.)
The setting they just added to remove this junk from the Home Screen is exactly what should have been added the second the new rows were forced onto our home screens. It should not have taken two months of complaints for Roku to finally add a setting to disable this!
Note to Roku: In the future, before adding any new "features" make sure they ALL come with a setting to disable them immediately as they are added! This way all of us that hate it can turn it off right away and we won't have to come here and waste our time complaining for weeks about it!
Use common sense Roku! Make your programmers design disable settings as a requirement for all new features 100% of the time!
My Rokus received the update that allows Categories and Browse to be hidden yesterday evening. Thank you Roku.
Thank you Roku for listening to the users.
