Yeah, I’m going to have to second that this **bleep** sucks. I will never buy another Roku. Keep this **bleep** up. I recommend them to all my family members: “all things bad. “🤮
I have 2 Roku TV’s, and 3 Roku sticks. The Home Screen is now showing a “recommended” row that is suggested what literally amounts to pornography! This is on every TV in the house including a 4 year old, 7 year old and 12 year olds TV’s. UNACCEPTABLE. This goes away by the end of the day or I have a Roku TV bonfire in my backyard. Roku WILL NOT pollute my children’s hearts and minds!!!
The setting they just added to remove this junk from the Home Screen is exactly what should have been added the second the new rows were forced onto our home screens. It should not have taken two months of complaints for Roku to finally add a setting to disable this!
Note to Roku: In the future, before adding any new "features" make sure they ALL come with a setting to disable them immediately as they are added! This way all of us that hate it can turn it off right away and we won't have to come here and waste our time complaining for weeks about it!
Use common sense Roku! Make your programmers design disable settings as a requirement for all new features 100% of the time!
As mentioned by @Emissary35 , does look like Roku finally added the ability to "Hide" these recommended "Browse" and "Categories" rows as they were being called by Roku. (https://www.roku.com/blog/all-things-food)
Go to Settings/Home Screen/Recommendation Rows and select "Hide" to disable these from your Home Screen.

The "Recommendations" you are seeing are not on the Home screen, but within the Roku Channel screen. (after selecting it). The problem is that these companies are rushing to implement AI but the AI is not actually recommending content based on the viewer's preferences, but that of channel partners and "preferred" content/channels. Basically, just pushing certain content to the front of others. This is what happens when a bunch of features are just added into a platform without the ability to customize or reset preferences by the user. (This is also by design, not an oversight.) These AI recommendations are generally not for your benefit, but for arrangements behind the scenes.
that has nothing to do with being woke.
Hi everyone — happy holidaze.
Good news. All "recommended" junk polluting my Home screen is gone. It happened two days ago.
I don't know how or why. I didn't change anything. Roku doesn't appear to have shoved a Software update at us.
Anyway, here's what happened...
I started my 50" TCL Roku TV and navigated to the Settings / Home screen menu. There was a new item called Layout with a Recommendation rows button. It wasn't there before. In hope and fear, I selected it.
Wow! Amazing! Guess what? It includes the standard Show / Hide options. I selected Hide and restarted my TV.
Success.
I hope this post is helpful for all Roku users. I especially hope it's useful for all Roku software designers. Remember: Never play with other people's toys without asking first.
Roku has added an app on the home screen row called live tv guide. i have seen this on more than one device. this was another FORCED addition. NOBODY I KNOW HAS ASKED FOR IT OR WANTS IT. there is now also ads under the text menu. you can remove the live tv guide by pressing the * button and remove from the menu. obviously roku is NOT LISTENING or learning from their continued mistakes. I removed my roku device last night permanently and it will NEVER be used again. Put a section in the text menu for new stuff. Let people CHOOSE to look.
Sad what this company is doing. I understand advertising but there's a wrong way to do it and roku is writing that book all over!!!!
I agree!! Just had the issue today on two new Roku tvs. The “recommended for you” section is all sexually explicit content! It’s maddening
I have also come across the semi-adult content like “Free the Nipple” or something like that. My 6 & 10 don’t need to see that.
I'fukkyvagrre I have had
3 Roku ones
1 Roku 2
1 Roku 3 rebub bad returned
1 Roku 4 currently and now I'm looking for an Android TV device/box if Roku don't get that **bleep** off my screen
I prebooked my Roku 1 through Amazon
B4 cord cutting was fashionable
I feel like I've been betrayed and then stabbed in the back after a gut punch
Not a happy customer ROKU
