Cool. While you’re going to “raise this with the team,” I’m literally looking at recommended titles of “17 & Life Jailbait” and “Virtual Girl 2” every time my kids turn on the TV. Thanks for making it a priority to fix this Roku! This has already been a couple weeks now. This can’t be that hard to correct. Maybe the media would be interested in hearing from angry customers with the same soft core porn titles showing up when their kids turn on the TV?
I totally agree, this should not be that hard with technology. They just don't care. I have filed a complaint with the FCC. Hopefully, everyone will also file a complaint at the website FCC.gov.
"We'll raise this with the team". LOL.....this issue has been brought to your attention LONG AGO. I have filed a complaint with the FCC and have encouraged all others to do the same. Your company is promoting porn in a situation where children are present. But ROKU doesn't care about our children or family values. ROKU has gone WOKE following in the steps of Budweiser, etc.
I’ve been using Roku since no one I knew had even heard of it. Yet this is the first time I’ve ever logged on to this forum. This ad nonsense is awful. If it’s not cleared up by the end of the Black Friday deals, I’m buying new and never coming back.
Well...... What is taking so long to get "Recommended" removed !?!?!?!?!
Be adults, be less annoying, give us an option to remove your annoying ads
I also created a profile here just to state that the row of "recommended for you" on the home screen is NOT WANTED and also request that it be removed or give us a way to take it off! SOON!
It showed up on my stick Roku a couple days ago. I instantly spent the next 30 minutes trying to figure out if there was a way to REMOVE IT. 😠
Good possibility that if it shows up on my main TV that uses the Roku sound bar, then I will, likely, just get rid of all Roku devices and services if it's not removed on all Roku devices by the end of the November (2023).
You've got enough ads on your Home page (that we can't' remove), so PLEASE remove this one...and don't add more. 😉
It’s finally gone!! Guess they didn’t want to loose all their business to competitors come Friday. Next time Roku, do better!! If you plan to continue adding unnecessary sections to our profiles/accounts without asking us if we even want them, at least have the decency to include a REMOVE button.
Mine just showed up today and I found this discussion because of it! It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't right at the top of the home screen. I tried disabling every option under the "Home Screen" settings and it won't go away.
Based on the comments from other people, I'm expecting this to be here for a long time because Roku is pushing their own stuff over the other apps.
I just want a dumb media player! I don't want anything fancy and please don't start putting "AI" in these things!
Roku!
We're at 4 weeks now since my initial post and your first assurance of reviewing the issue.
There is a fine line between bureaucracy and empty platitudes. Public trust is hard to retain as it can erode quickly. I fear for many if us, the erosion has begun. I urge you to fix the issue before the damage becomes irreversible. As it currently stands, it will be a long time before you earn my trust again and, this assumes no other infractions occur.
For your own sake, just remove the "Recommended for you..." from the home screen now. Your deadline for internal debate has passed. To prevent further damage, act now, deliberate later.
