Lost ability to stream from Android Pixel phone

A year ago I could either "mirror" or "cast" from my Pixel phone to the Roku 3810X stick.  I was not using any 3rd-party software; it was "native".  But now I can't seem to make it work; the phone cannot find the Roku.  Yes, they are on the same network, and both are within 15 feet of the WiFi hub, so signal strength is excellent.  I noticed that the Roku is on 2.4GHz while the phone was on 5GHz, so I temporarily modified my modem setting to disable 5GHz on the modem and force the phone to also use 2.4GHz, but that did not fix the problem.  I'm pretty tech savvy, but this one has me going in circles.

Did Roku issue a software update that messed this up?

Is the 3810X out of date and I need to buy a new stick?

Re: Lost ability to stream from Android Pixel phone

Hi @RetireeJay,

Welcome to the Roku Community!

Thank you for letting us know about the trouble you've encountered connecting your phone to your Roku device and the steps you took to resolve it.

Here are additional steps you may try to fix the issue:

  • Restart your Roku device. You can either unplug the power cable, wait a moment, and then reconnect it. Or you can use the following steps to restart it from the Settings menu.

    1. Press Home on your Roku remote
    2. Scroll and select Settings
    3. Select System
    4. Select Power. If you do not see a Power submenu, skip to the next step.
    5. Select System restart
  • Restart the Roku mobile app. On an Android device, press the Recents button and then swipe the Roku app to close it.
  • Connect to your Roku device manually. Locate the IP address of your Roku device by going to Settings > Network > About, and then use the steps below to connect manually.

    1. Launch the Roku mobile app
    2. Tap Devices
    3. Tap Get help?
    4. Select Connect manually
    5. Enter the IP address of your Roku device and tap CONNECT

If it's still not working, feel free to let us know, and we’ll look into it further. Hope this helps!

Thanks,
Chel
