Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
@easytodobetter- Maybe I should have been clearer re: Plex;
*Within the Plex app* as installed on this already OTA-capable, antenna-broadcast-receiving Roku/TCL television - there is no OTA/antenna connectivity or functionality available (that I've been able to find - someone please correct me if I'm wrong).
Of course, one could Google and purchase an additional device of some sort that supports Plex fully (including the OTA functionality) but that's not the reason why I bought this particular television; I bought it specifically because it had integrated OTA functionality - requiring no additional discrete hardware purchases/connections - along with what at the time I perceived as an excellent, user-friendly OTA channel guide to support that functionality. And it is specifically that channel guide that just gets suckier and suckier each time Roku decides to change something... to "enhance the user experience" (ππ).
That's what this entire thread is about - not necessarily what other equipment may be available for purchase in order to "fix" what Roku has deliberately broken (although that's all great information to know for folks wanting to ditch the Roku platform entirely! π).
Otherwise, I'd likely have better put my money into a higher-quality straight-up monitor plus a discrete streaming/OTA-DTV tuner box with something like Plex installed... π€
Live and learn, I guess... π«€ Next time... π€«π€
....

Re: Live TV Channel Guide: View Current Shows When Browsing Channels
Enhance our viewing???? It doesn't enhance ANYTHING & is so annoying. Extra clicks to get to actual guide and to get out of it. If we look at guide while watching a station, we get that **bleep** banner where we have to click (once again) to go back to view the stations. We can see in the actual guide what is playing. We don't need that banner at the top--we aren't idiots. Rather than TELLING us it is to 'enhance', why not ASK if WE think it enhances anything??

does customer service even read the remarks??
So many people are remarking about issues with the new 'banner' over the channel guide et al. Does anyone at Roku actually read these & comment or work on correcting an issue?? I don't see any responses from them to any of those comments.

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
Hello everyone, It's funny how many times I've come here, and it's always to rant against Roku. Some of you may be firmlar with their no numbers battery killing remotes or their famous removing the channel numbers and now many of us are back over their stupid banner that gets in the way of us seeing what's on the easy way, using the guide.
I mentioned that I wrote support and even Tony Wood (the inventor of Roku) to complain, and if Tony could flip a switch, so many of us would be dead. Since about the 80s, many of us have haunted him while making him a very, very rich man. He won't go away and spend our money; he lives and breathes Roku. Here's the latest....
Hi John, Thanks for the response. We can understand that you want to remove a channel guide banner from the Roku home screen.
We are sorry for the inconvenience. Please perform the below troubleshooting steps on your TV and check the banner.
Roku TV > Settings > Privacy > Advertising > Limit ad tracking (enabled) Roku TV > Settings > Privacy > Advertising > Reset advertising identifier (do this often).

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
I tried Tony's suggestions about removing the banner. It didn't work! I tried twice.

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
Yes, please get rid of the streaming channels at the top of the channel guide. It's very annoying and I already have my favorites saved. It's redundant.

It didn't work for me either. What a headache having to go through all the bs just to get to the channel guide.

Re: Live TV Channel Guide: View Current Shows When Browsing Channels
Everyone hates this live TV channels at the top of your TV Guide. Roku, please put it back the way it was. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Bad idea. Please go back to the original channel guide. I've already saved all the streaming channels in my favorites I don't need them at the top.

Re: Favorites above TV Guide - new feature
Funny you telling me what this entire thread is about when you're the one getting away from my initial recommendation, which was if it's SOOOO BAD like you keep repeating over and over, then temporarily use an alternative to EFFECT change. It doesn't even have to be Plex.
I'm merely suggesting a very strong alternative for most people, because having worked in the industry, I know most people are NOT also using OTA. AntennaWeb and other sites will show you how many local channels you get and most people don't get enough to bother with that. The vast majority of people have a cable/broadband package or just broadband and stream.
So, to them, they'll barely notice a difference while Roku realizes numbers are plummeting which effects advertising.
I'm trying to suggest something beyond beat a dead horse. I'd like something to be done for once, and I know how companies like this operate, hurt their revenue and they listen. Is it a lot of revenue? No, is it better than screaming into the void on here? I believe so.
