Re: How to use Roku Backdrops!

Holding down the power button is now how you turn off the TV. As opposed to previously where it would factory reset the TV.

Mary;

I am using Backdrops and I think it is a great addition.   I have two suggestions for future features:

1)  Make Backdrops a Screensaver option.  I want it to automatically start not just have to use the power button.

2)  Make an option to have a caption on the backdrops.  This should be a toggle option.  I love the artist and photographer content, but I would like to know the title of the painting or the location of the picture.

Hi! Everyone. Roku backdrops is a game-changer. However no matter how high the resolution of my Google photos are I am unable to have them fill the entire TV screens like the native Roku photos are. How should I do to have my own pics fill the entire screen?

@joule365, the resolution doesn't matter; it's the dimensions that matter.  The width should be 1.7778 times the height.  For example, a photo that's 1920 pixels wide by 1080 high will fill the screen as well as one that's half of those dimensions or twice those dimensions (960x540 and 3840x2160, respectively) or any other dimensions that have a width 1.7778 times the height.  You can stretch your photos to meet those requirements (personally, I hate distorted photos) or crop them.  To crop them, you may have to remove a little of the top and/or bottom or the sides depending on the dimensions of the original photo.

I should add that I don't have Backdrops yet and I'm assuming your photos are being displayed with black bars on the top and bottom or the sides and not bars all around the photos.

I have 14.0.4, on two TCL Roku TVs, and still don't have Backdrops on either of them?  Is it because I'm in Canada?

@JeffBowyer, "Backdrops will be available to US Roku TVs only at launch."

Roku doesn't do anything quickly, so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon, but you never know.  They're also very poor about communicating any kind of timeline.
