Hey Roku land,
In recent weeks the side ads on the Roku TV Home Screen have taken a turn. I don't want my 5-year-old seeing overly frightening, violent, or sexually-tinged ads on the Home Screen, and this seems an entirely reasonable thing to want.
I'm sure House of the Dragon is a great show for adults who enjoy profuse violence and nudity, but my children don't need to be served up ads for it. The same goes for whatever ridiculous ads were getting pushed during the Halloween season.
Surely it can't be that hard to enable a toggle that limits ads to certain ratings. There have got to be SpongeBob and Paw Patrol and Disney+ ads out there in the queue. Surely HBO isn't the only available paying customer. (And hey, family-appropriate ads might actually get clicked on and make you money in this household!)
