question on controlling audio with roku tv
hello everyone, i had a quick question. i have a 58" sharp tv with roku built in. it's honestly an amazing tv that i got for $300. i love soundbar stuff and was wondering of any way to adjust volume with the tv. i mainly use the apps in the tv, not using hdmi much. i used to have a Vizio sound bar that would adjust in volume, it was plugged with an aux and had it's own remote, but the roku one still controlled it. I'm currently using a razer soundbar (got a good deal). no remote, and im using an optical cable. i was thinking about purchasing a JBL audio system. does adjusting the volume just work with aux, or is it based whether the remote is an IR remote? thank you for any help, and apologies if this isn't meant for this sub.

Re: question on controlling audio with roku tv
For the Roku remote to control the soundbar volume the soundbar has to have hdmi input. The Roku remote controls the TV, and TV controls the Soundbar volume by hdmi-cec. It doesn't work with optical.
