Wireless speakers in Europe

I've posted this before, maybe some at Roku could comment:

Roku wireless speakers in Germany

It would be interesting to know why there are these restrictions. Software, hardware, radio frequency regulatory restrictions? It looks like the wireless speakers won’t work anywhere in Europe. Why? I could get them shipped from the States, but should I?

Roku advertises how great the wireless speakers are on their (US) web site but oddly makes sure you can’t use them in Europe. Why? Will this always be the case?

The Streambar by itself is much better than using the built in speakers on my previous set up, but it would be good to have “Immersive surround sound for your Roku home theatre” (quote form Roku US website).

Other quotes or highlights from the Roku US website:

“Premium sound made simple

Expand your Roku TV™ or Roku home theatre”

“Surround sound: Combine Roku Wireless Speakers with Roku Streambar Pro and Roku Wireless Subwoofer for deep, rich bass and immersive surround sound”.

Not if you’re in Europe

I bought the Streambar thinking I could add wireless speakers, it’s on your (US) web site that you can, it’s on youtube that you can, but apparently not if you’re in Europe.

Hopefully you can confirm either way that the wireless speakers will or won’t ever be available in Europe.

Thanks.

Re: Wireless speakers in Europe

Countries have regulatory restrictions that vary from country to country and what is allowed in the US may not be allowed in Europe or the manufacture may have to jump through hoops to make it fit under the regulatory guidance.  It may not be financially worth it to conform to the different rules, so they only make certain products for sale in certain countries.

@ JWS9518

Your reply is of no help. You used "may not" twice, Suggests you don't know.

If you don't know the answers to the questions please don't bother trying to answer them. Pass it on to Roku. Don't waste your time with speculative comments.

I am getting fed up with trying to get answers to my questions. If you want to help, post a valid email address for Roku support.

You don't have to be rude.  I will not pass anything on to anyone as I don't work for Roku, I was just trying to help provide an explanation of why companies do what they do.

To contact Roku, go to their support page and make your request or connect via a live chat, but most customer support will probably not be able to answer your specific question.

As far as regulatory requirements in Germany, only the government agency in Germany could answer why they have those restrictions regarding radio frequencies and what frequencies are allowed for certain devices.

Sometimes others think that whoever is helping them is from the official team, but you only wanted to solve their problem.

Yes, that may be true, but they should be respectful to the moderators and Roku team just like anyone else.

Re: Wireless speakers in Europe

Hello, @Millwll. Welcome to the Roku Community!

We greatly appreciate your interest in our Roku devices. These products are designed for versatility and can be utilized in various locations. However, we would like to gently remind you that the functionality of your Roku device, including the Roku Streambar, may differ based on your region.

This is primarily due to content licensing restrictions and the availability of certain channels. While the device itself should function properly, the range of accessible channels and apps may vary from country to country.

If you encounter any setup issues, we recommend visiting our support page on how to set up a Roku surround sound system to verify that your Roku Streambar is configured correctly.

Thank you for your understanding, and we’re here to assist you further if needed!

Best,
Jharra
