Ok so I've had my ONN TV for awhile now only real complaint I ever had was the sound. Shortly after purchasing it the sound began to mess up. That doesn't bother me. What I'm having trouble with is I turned my TV on this morning and it was asking if this TV was for home or office use. I had to put my email and everything back in. After doing this none of my apps were like I had them and it was actually missing Netflix. I went to install Netflix and it said I had to many other channels. So I went and deleted almost every channel except for those I actually use. I went to try to download it again and I got the same message. So I figured maybe it was just a glitch or something so I restarted my TV. Upon doing this as soon as it powered up again I had the same message as I did when I originally turned it on this morning. I went through all the steps again. Now it's doing it's channel update. Everything was going good till it got to Netflix. Now it's stuck on updating Netflix. I've been starring at this screen saying channel update so many out of so many for Netflix. The pinwheel is turning and it's not doing anything else. Has anyone else had this problem or can maybe help me with figuring out what I have to do to fix it? If I can't fix it I'll probably just go get a new one and this time it sure won't be this brand again!!!
That doesn't sound good. What software version is displayed under Settings->System->About? It should check for updates when it goes through the setup process, but it wouldn't hurt to check manually (Settings->System->Software/System update).
It's not a solution, but you could factory reset it and not link it to a Roku account and just use it as a "dumb" TV with a Roku or other streaming device connected to it. I have a Roku TV I use this way because I've seen too many horror stories here about Roku updates affecting TVs in a negative way. Whether the updates are really to blame is hard to say, but no sense in taking chances when I have a plethora of Roku devices (some of which I treat as disposable).
