I have a Roku TV and I watch live TV with it.    I was at my freinds house the other day and she was fast forwarding through commercials.  What do i need to be able to do the same thing.  She has direct tv, i do not.  Also i have an older tv in my bedroom and i want to hook up roku streaming to it.  It only has the red, yellow and white hookups  What do i need to make my old tv a smart t?  Thank you for any replies.

I don't have DirecTV, but I suspect your friend was using some kind of feature it provides like a DVR.  That's not a general feature of Roku devices.

For your old TV you'd need a very old Roku device (not recommended) or device that converts HDMI to RCA connections to go with the Roku device like this.
