I was trying to hook a wireless keyboard to my roku t.v does it have to be a specific brand or do I need an app. Or can I even download apps to the t.v that are not roku apps. PLEASE HELP

Roku devices don't support wireless keyboards and only support Roku apps.  You can use the mobile app and use the keyboard on your phone/tablet.

That's a pity. Please make it possible, though!

I am not able to the virtual keyboard in the Roku App on my mobile device while watching in my TV's direction.
