I have a Sony Home Theater Receiver. Recently, I selected the HDMI port for my Nintendo from the Roku menu and it switched my receiver to it Blu-Ray HDMI port that is not used so I had no audio. I had to manually change the receiver to the HDMI port for the Nintendo. It use to change to the right HDMI port, but now CEC is not working properly.

"I'm having the same issue with HDMI CEC on my Sony Home Theater Receiver. Switching to my Nintendo from the Roku menu now defaults to the Blu-Ray HDMI port, causing audio problems. Manually changing ports works, but it used to switch correctly. Any solutions would be appreciated!

Sorry to hear about the difficulties regarding the HDMI CEC not working like it was. Here are a few idea that come to mind that you could try to fix the issue

• Check to see if your Roku OS is in need of an update. If you have any. questions regarding how to check to see if an update is needed let me know and I will walk you through it. It’s a pretty straight forward process. You start by going to settings. From there scroll down to system, and lastly scroll down and look for software update and click on check now.
• Make sure your Sony Receiver doesn’t need any updating, I’m not too familiar with Sony products but checking the user manual if you still have it might be helpful. If not, you could go online to the Sony website and look there as well.
• Make sure CEC is turned on. Sometime adjusting certain settings could turn off the CEC off automatically,
• What kind of Roku player do you have? Depending on which you own you may want to try changing the HDMI ports you’re using and see if that fixes the problem.
• Unplug the TV, wait 10 minutes, and plug it back in. 

Hopefully with one of these you will find success and you’ll have things back to the way they were before. My fingers are crossed for you and I wish you the best of luck!

1. Restart all devices: Power off your receiver, Nintendo, Roku, and any other connected devices. Unplug them from the power source for about a minute, then plug them back in and power them on. This can reset the CEC settings.

2. Check CEC settings: Ensure that HDMI-CEC is enabled on all devices. On your Sony receiver, look for "Bravia Sync" or "Control for HDMI" and make sure it's turned on. Similarly, check the CEC settings on your Nintendo and Roku.

3. Reconnect HDMI cables: Disconnect and reconnect the HDMI cables to ensure a secure connection. Sometimes, a loose connection can disrupt CEC communication.

4. Reset CEC devices: Some devices allow you to reset HDMI-CEC individually. You might find this option in the settings menu of your receiver or other connected devices.

5. Update firmware: Ensure that your receiver, Nintendo, and Roku all have the latest firmware updates. Outdated software can sometimes cause compatibility issues with HDMI-CEC.

My Sony Home Theater Receiver's HDMI-CEC is working fine. This is a Roku Bug.

Before when setting up CEC we could chose the HDMI port on the Home Theater Receiver we wanted to use. I also could setup multiple ports for my Nintendo, Windows PC and Blu-ray player.

Now when you setup CEC it defaults to the Blu-ray player and gives you no option to change it or add additional ports.

Hey there sorry you're running into difficulties still. Below I listed 3 usage scenarios and some tips and recommendations on how to address the issue. I'm not sure 1 of these 3 will help. But if they don't at least we'll be able to crossed them off and move on to trying something else. Keep up posted!

(A) TV and Soundbar only:

Requirement: Setup TV’s HDMI-CEC set up

Tips: Use your TV’s remote control to:

1. Power On or Off our soundbar
2. Change our soundbar’s volume Control + or -
3. Mute our soundbar
4. Device priority: our soundbar will automatically change to ARC input whenever your TV is power on

*Important: In this scenario, always use your TV remote control to power ON and OFF our soundbar. Once HDMI-CEC is set up, do not use our soundbar remote control to Power ON or OFF our soundbar. The TV’s HDMI-CEC has taken control over our soundbar’s the power ON/OFF function, pressing the power button on soundbar remote control will become secondary, which will result in no response or delay on our soundbar.

(B) TV, Soundbar and Source devices:

Requirement: Setup HDMI-CEC on both (a) TV and (b) source devices

Tips 1: Use your TV’s remote control to:

1. Power On or Off our soundbar and Power off devices
2. Change our soundbar’s volume Control + or -
3. Mute our soundbar
4. Device priority: our soundbar will automatically change to ARC input whenever your TV is power on
5. Control your source device’s interface

Tips 2: Use your device’s remote control for:

1. Power On your TV
2. Device priority: our soundbar will automatically switch to the connected HDMI input whenever your device is out of rest mode e.g. being power on

*Important:

If you just want to watch TV always use your TV remote control to power ON and OFF our soundbar. Once HDMI-CEC is set up, do not use our soundbar remote control to Power ON or OFF our soundbar. The TV’s HDMI-CEC has taken control over our soundbar’s the power ON/OFF function, pressing the power button on soundbar remote control will become secondary, which will result in no response or delay on our soundbar.

If you want to watch device 1, 2 or 3, always use your source device’s remote control to power ON (or press play button) the device. The source device will send a HDMI-CEC signal to your TV and to our soundbar to automatically power ON.

When finished watching the movie, always use the TV remote control to power OFF. The TV will send HDMI-CEC signal to our soundbar and the source device to automatically power OFF. The TV’s and source device’s HDMI-CEC has taken control over our soundbar’s the power ON/OFF function, pressing the power button on soundbar remote control will become secondary, which will result in no response or delay on our soundbar.

(C) TV, Soundbar and Source devices without HDMI CEC:

Whenever any devices do not have HDMI CEC on the setup link.

Requirement: Turn HDMI-CEC OFF on both (a) TV and (b) all source devices.

Tips: Using HDMI-CEC OFF, allows you to manually control your TV, Sound bar and connected devices using its’ respective remotes.
