Do Hisense Roku TVs have a protective cover for shipping

Do Roku TVs have a protective film that needs to be removed off of the whole front screen? I bought a Hisense TV with Roku on it and its whole screen was covered with a plastic sheet. I just bought a Roku brand TV Select Series 55” and peeled away the plastic around all of the edges, but it is not obvious if the whole screen is covered with a plastic sheet or not. Does anyone know for sure? I don’t want to try to remove something that isn’t there and mess up the screen. Thanks

Re: Do Roku TVs have a protective cover for shipping

Hi, @TIHI!

Welcome here at the Roku community we appreciate your participation!

We notice your post and your concern about the protective film on your Roku TV. You mention if there is something that you need to remove at the whole front TV screen.

Yes, there is, and it is recommended that you remove the screen film from your new television. This film is usually put on by the manufacturer to protect the screen during shipping, and it is not meant to be kept on for regular use. By removing the film, you can enhance the picture quality and have the best viewing experience.

Note: If you don't see a pull tab in one of the left corners, but a barcode is displayed on the screen, you need to remove the protective film. To do so, apply a piece of adhesive tape to the film in one of the corners, and lift it diagonally to guide the film across the display.

Feel free to let us know if you have any other concerns. We are always here to listen and take action.

Thanks,
Elmer

I do not see a bar code on the screen but i am thinking there is a film anyway. I cannot seem to remove it though...is there a secret way?

Re: Do Roku TVs have a protective cover for shipping

I read @RokuElmer-H @response which I think they also self-marked as the solution but at least on the model I have, they were wrong. I went to Best Buy and went out and looked with the ‘expert’ at the floor model. We both came to the same conclusion that there is NOT a protective film over the main screen. The coating looked just like mine. He said don’t try removing it or you will damage the screen. So, it seems to vary. My Hisense Roku DID have a film protective layer to peel off, but it was obvious. If you can put a small piece of masking tape in the corner and lift/pull diagonally and see it lifting a film…you could proceed, otherwise I would leave it alone. Hope this helps

Elmer

I just unpacked and set up a 65 inch ROKU TV. I pulled the tape off the side of the screen. The plastic sheeting on the screen just does not come off - there is no pull tab, and adhesive did not work. Please give me a solution to this or I will return the unit to Amazon. It just arrived. The film makes the screen fuzzy and not sharp.

PLEASE HELP.

Re: Do Roku TVs have a protective cover for shipping

Hi Shiva,

I was alerted to your email as I started this thread. It sounds like you have the screen treatment my unit has. It is a matte finish which mostly removes glare from lights that would reflect off of a perfectly smooth surface. I would leave it alone. I found that the picture IS sharp if you are 5 feet or more away. If you get within inches, of course you are going to see the matte finish. Stand back to your seating position and see what you think. Go to YouTube and search for 4K or even 8K videos and see what an amazing picture you are really getting. Hope this helps. Best of luck.
