We just bought my girls a roku tv. We want to make sure it turns off when we say it needs to be off. Can I see if it's on/off from any of the apps?

We're happy to help you with your inquiry about Roku TV. We currently do not have an app or feature where you can see if your daughters really did turn the Roku TV off. However, we have a Roku mobile app where you can control the Roku TV as long as you are connected to it. You can check out this link here for more details on how to connect the Roku mobile app to your Roku TV over Wi-Fi. We also have available Roku cameras on the market if you intend to check on your girls from time to time.
