ok, long story shout, bought a tcl last year, works great. just bought an open box hisense to be used as a secondary tv. the hisense didn't come with the original remote so i bought a universal remote. i signed in using the same roku account. each tv requires different settings and has different purposes. my tcl has a cable box (xfinity) hooked up to it, arc (soundbar), and when i want to watch a movie on my tower computer, i plug it in to the 3rd hdmi. the second tv (hisense) only has a computer connected to it.
a) why the **bleep** is my tcl remote controlling both tv's at the same time and b) why the **bleep** can i no longer get to my cable box or anything else for that manner on the home screen any more? they just disappeared. gone. only streaming services now. no hdmi1, 2, 3, arc, a/v, NOTHING. this should be addressed. on the front page of your website.
for a fast fix because i'm impatient i'm going to factory reset both tv's. but this shouldn't happen. 2 tv's, 2 completely separate uses with totally different devices connected to them, why do they parrot each other? makes no sense.
Factory resetting won't accomplish anything. Many manufacturers use the same set of codes for their remotes. Apparently TCL and Hisense do. That they're Roku TVs doesn't matter one way or the other, but at least Roku TVs support Wi-Fi direct remotes (the voice remotes) that can only be paired to one device at a time. If the TVs are both within the line of sight of the remote, the only solution is to abandon the IR remotes and purchase voice remotes.
