YouTube channel on our ROKU accessed by unknown 3rd party

Jump to solution

We've been using Roku streaming stick to watch YouTube for a year with no problems.  About a month ago we discovered that all our YouTube searches had been suddenly replaced by a whole new set of totally unrelated searches and that the suggested videos automatically generated by YouTube now featured content related solely to the substituted searches.  Checked, did not find any evidence of hacking or unauthorized use, but changed our Roku user name, email address, and password anyway. Now it has happened again, apparently by the same 3rd party based on the subject matter indicated in the substituted search history and content.  What's going on here?

@Wash

Thanks for the post.

For more information about that channel's features and functionality, you'll want to contact the channel provider support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.

Thanks,
Danny

I've been noticing this on one Roku device but not others. It appears to be a bug with my Roku Express 4K device. It might affect other Roku devices too. Log into youtube from a phone or PC and see if that random history shows up there too. If it does your account was likely hacked. If not you are probably experiencing the same bug as me,
