thank you @AeroSpaceTech other than the 'update' in the ROKU settings on the TV,,, I'm not sure what more I can do,, on the YouTube settings on the TV ... OH, ,I found the version: web.20220309_10_RC00
again,,, the 'version' I had before 3/2022 was exactly like my desktop computer,,, I did not manually update or revert the version,,, just one day,, the settings were different
UPDATE: I found my version by selecting the channel and *, thank you @HDMIGuy
I'm at: 2.21 Build 94005088
I'm having the exact same problem. I use the play speed adjustment when watching You Tube on my other TV with AMAZON FIRE STICK and on my PC with CHROME browser but on my TCL TV with ROKU i have no speed control options. Now this just started recently. I have had this TV for a few years and have always been able to watch YOU TUBE and adjust the speed. Its only recently that the option is no longer available. I have done all the updates with no success. I even did a FACTORY DEFALT and am having the same challenge. Very frustration. I hope someone has a fix soon or YOU TUBE or ROKU fix the problem ASAP!

To find the version just put your cursor on the channel and hit the asterisk. The version is displayed on the top of the list for both YouTube and Roku. I have the same version as DBDukes.
thank you @HDMIGuy Yes, I see my version is 2.21 Build 94005088

Okay, that's good information. That's the same version that both @HDMIGuy and I have. So that rules out the app version. There's something else, although what it is I have no idea.
Unless ...
I don't think this is a feature of the plan, but I have YouTube Premium. What about you, @HDMIGuy ? Are you using YouTube standard or Premium? And you, @James_NYC ? I'm just trying to think of anything that would give us these results. The apps are the same, the Roku model doesn't seem to matter (though that isn't ruled out). The YouTube account may be part of it, so I'm wondering if YouTube Premium might be the reason. I see nothing that indicates that, I'm just looking for a possible difference.

I do not have YouTube premium. I do have speed control. I used a Streaming Stick plus
UPDATE: as per @Matusow <<"Unfortunately this does not change the speed that the YOU TUBE video plays at. This only adjustment the speed of the ROKU TV talking feature that can be used in the accessibly area. Primarily used for people who have some visual impairment or have difficulty making adjustments on their TV without an auditable instruction. It has nothing to do with YOU TUBE PLAY SPEEDS.">>
So, we are now WITHOUT a solution as to how to adjust the speed on the YouTube video itself to watch a clip faster on our Smart TV/Roku experience,,, 😞

thank you and @AeroSpaceTech wins the prize~!!! (or a new pair of sneakers 🙂
SO,,, while watching a YouTube video, instead of hitting the 'up arrow' button on the Roku remote to access the "More" selection where the Playback speed used to be,,,,
as @AeroSpaceTech tech pointed out, press the * button on your Roku device while playing a YouTube video and a sidebar appears.... and click on the "Accessibility" bar and all sorts of cool selections come up including "Speed Rate" and by clicking that you get a choice of slow, normal, fast and very fast.
extra fun: there is a "Volume Mode" for Leveling and Night,,, but that also does not seem to make a difference either 😕
BUT GET THIS: the speed rate at this selection did not change when I selected "fast" or "very fast", hmmmmm so, I guess this will be another thread? LOL,, or do you guys find the speed does in fact change when you select 'fast' or 'very fast' from the side bar Accessibility bar?
YouTube Premium is just an add on. It blocks ads
I'm aware of what it does. I'm checking for an undocumented feature.

That rules out an undocumented feature of YouTube Premium. I have the control on a Streambar 9102 and Premiere+ 3921.
