Why is the Hallmark Movies Now app not working on my Roku device?

The Hallmark Movies Now  channel on my Roku is no longer working.  I can select a movie but when I try to hit play, it makes the noise but does NOT play the movie. 

I want to delete it and reload it to see if that fixes it, however when I select the channel and hit the * button, it goes to the menu but the remove channel button flashes and turns into Manage Subscription. 

I don't want to manage my subscription, I want to remove and reinstall the channel. How can I fix this? Restarting the Roku box did nothing.

    We do apologize you're having troubles with our app. I have a few basic steps that might fix your issue:

    1) Try logging out of the app and then logging back in
     
    *** Logging out of Hallmark and logging back in fixed the issue for us. ***

    2) Try turning your device off and then back on
    3) Try reinstalling the app

    Please be noted that due to international licensing restrictions Hallmark Movies Now only works within United States. Mirroring from a device to your TV, via an HDMI cord, is not supported on by our site or app.

    If none of these work please let me know if you have any more details that can help diagnose your issue that would be helpful.

  • We cannot log in at all to watch the Hallmark Movie Channel. I did a chat with support and was told this: A recent update is preventing the activation of Roku devices at this time. Our Developers are aware of this issue and are working to correct it. We will notify you as soon as this is fixed. Please do not attempt to log in to the Hallmark Movies Now app on your Roku device until further notice.

    This was last Wednesday and so far no notice.  If I go to the Hallmark Channel, they way me to sigh up for service even though we do have an account. Seems as if our records were at some point wiped clean. 

    Really disappointed. This is Micky Mouse stuff. We paid for a service and can't get it and no one on the Hallmark side or Roku seems interested in fixing it.

      One more thing, the remove feature is deactivated. You can move the channel, but not remove it. I  am guessing Roku deactivated it because once deactivated, the Hallmark App won't reinstall until this issue, whatever it is, is fixed. Just a guess.

        I finally got my Hallmark Channel back.  It took a call to Hallmark, several actually, to talk to someone who could explain the problem and offer a solution to fix it. 

        The problem was a platform upgrade that deleted/cancelled my account through Roku. They found my now gone account and sent coupon code for free year to replace the one I had set up through Roku. 

        I had to register all over again but at least we got Hallmark Movies Now back.  

        I am really disappointed in Roku's support. All they had to do was explain what happened and provide a number to call to get it back. That's it.

      Exactly, feels like someone took the money and disappeared.  No way to contact Roku,  no phone no live chat.   Will never make another purchase through Roku.

      I've been having log in issues also.  Started 2/7/20.  First I could not log in.  Had to go to settings and log out and then log back in.  That worked and got me logged in.  Now after I watch a movie or episode or two I get a message to log in again.  If I use the back button it kicks me off also.  Yesterday I had to log in 5 times in as many hrs.  Very frustrating.  When I try to log into my account on my computer it tells me it is the wrong password so I have to get an email for a new password.  Do that and set the new password the same as the old and it works.  I go thru this every time I log in using my computer.   I cannot get thru to talk to customer service.  On hold for 15-20 minutes then a recording comes on telling me there is no one that can take my call at this time.  Tells me to leave my info and someone will call me back "shortly".  The first time I did this was on the 10th.  I've done it three times since and still waiting on a call back.  I sent an email.  Got a response two days later.  By that time I had a new issue so sent a reply on the 7th.  Got an answer back today on the 17th telling the same thing as the first and did not even address my second issue.  I paid for a year and really like the shows and movies but not sure it is worth the frustrations.  Let's face it........THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE STINKS!

  • Hallmark Movies Now is still NOT working for a lot of us. I have been on their Facebook page and get the standard canned answer. Their toll free help number never picks up. They keep saying "we are working on it" but they said the same thing last week. This is beyond frustrating.  Apparently something caused a lot of people's subscriptions to get wiped out and you cannot remove the channel from Roku and re-install as it doesn't give you an option to do so.

        Nothing but silence. Guess Hallmark is going to lose a paid subscriber because apparently no one gives a **bleep**.

  • We are tired of having to load, reload, uninstall, reinstall the Hallmark movies now channel. What is the problem??

      I did what you suggested here first thing. That did not work.

      It was an issue with a platform update by Hallmark (whatever that means), is what I was told by Hallmark, that caused the problem and I had cancel my subscription with Roku and redo it as a subscription to Hallmark. 

      If that worked for you great. We had different problems, apparently.

      Ok technically dumb senior citizen.  Don't even know what all that is, log on, log off, uninstall, reinstall.  Maybe just cancel is the answer for me.

  • When I try to log into HMNow, it just goes back to home screen and ask to log in again.  I pay for the feature to Roku.  When I contacted Hallmark, they say Hallmark account not active.  Roku customer phone service not available due to the situation.

      Thanks for the post.

      Try removing the channel from the Roku home screen by navigating to the channel tile, pressing the * key on your remote and choosing 'Remove channel'. Then restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. Once your player starts up again, add the channel back once more.

      Does this clear up the issue you are seeing?

  • I actually faced similar situation in the past days. I was not working on Roku device. Here is an article which help me to active it in Roku.

  • The hallmark movies now is not wotkinh on my Roku device!  What is going on?  I paidfor  a subscription.  Now they are saying have to get a free trial or pay another subscription !  Why?

        Hallmark has a horrible record of NOT keeping your record on their Roku site software forcing you to re-enter your e-mail and password you used when you paid for your content.

      Stuckeysdiner, there are two ways to access Hallmark Movies Now and they aren't equivalent.  You can access it through "The Roku Channel" or through their stand-alone channel/app.  If one doesn't work, try the other.  In addition, if you're paying for something through Roku, in general that subscription only works on Roku devices linked to the same Roku account.
