Repetitive ads are driving me crazy

Why do the same 5 ads play over and over? It is driving me crazy, especially the one with Jessica Alba. The background music is the worst part. It ruins my experience trying to watch TV. Can Roku not swap out ads? This has been at least 2 years at this point. I will absolutely NEVER watch any of the shows in these few ads out of principle.

Re: Repetitive ads are driving me crazy

Remember, first and foremost, Roku is an advertising company. That's how they make money. As long as ads conform to Roku policy for content, Roku has little control over third party ads. If the advertiser wants to run the same ad five times in a row, that's what you'll see.

When something is ad-sponsored, remember who's selling, who's buying and what is the product.  Roku is the seller, the ad companies are the buyer, YOU are the product. Every show you watch has a target demographic, and that's who the sponsor is trying to reach (no matter how annoyingly!).

Your have already selected your best option: Never watch ad-sponsored content you object to. Better still, if you can afford it, pay for ad-free channels, and never watch ad-supported content again.

Re: Repetitive ads are driving me crazy

It's the self promotion ads that are run all of the time across all of the channels at every so called break that is the issue, not paid for promotional ads. For shows so inane that no one will ever watch.

The constant barrage will be the death of roku.

Re: Repetitive ads are driving me crazy

First and foremost, keep in mind that Roku is an advertising firm. That's how they generate revenue. Roku has minimal influence over third-party advertisements as long as they adhere to its content guideline. You will see the same advertisement if the advertiser want to run it five times in a row.

When something is supported by an advertisement, keep in mind the product, the buyer, and the seller. You are the product, the ad companies are the buyer, and Roku is the vendor. The sponsor is attempting to reach the target audience of every show you watch, no matter how obnoxious it may be.

You've already decided on the best course of action: Never view sponsored content that you disagree with.
