@JakeZ, you never need to enter your Roku password on a Roku device. It's already linked to your Roku account; it would be redundant to enter your Roku password. If an app is asking for a password, it's not asking for your Roku password. When an app asks a user to sign in, the email address defaults to the user's Roku email address. That's a Roku requirement, but it can be changed to any email address by the user.
As to why it's not available free I can only guess that the information was inaccurate which doesn't seem to be uncommon.
