That sounds like one of two things:
- A temporary issue with Peacock not recognizing your location. They'll fix it eventually, probably sooner than later.
- Your connection is running through a VPN. Many services will not let you stream through a VPN.
If not the second, probably the first.
I'm in Georgia, and no issues like you're having (at least, not at the moment).
Good points by @DBDukes. This determination might be based on the IP number through which you're connecting to Paramount. The IP is assigned to you by your internet provider, but if you relay through a VPN it is the IP from the VPN server that is shown upstream.
You can use a website like https://www.iplocation.net/ to see where the IP number you're presenting to the world indicates you're located.
And I'm in SC too but I'm not seeing that error, either.
Thanks for that link. It says I'm Hilton Head Island (Hargray), which is right. We can watch Peacock on our phones on wifi just fine. We have 4 Roku TVs and they're all giving us the same error.
In late 2020, a user reported to Peacock TV that they were getting that error. Peacock TV suggested initiating a chat to them. Here's a link to that post. Hope it leads to a resolution.
