I had the same issue on a 2 week old Roku stick. I just reset the Wallpaper Theme to Roku Factory Setting (Original Roku wallpaper). Issue fixed.

@Wolfy, thanks for reporting what worked.  Out of curiosity, if you change the theme back to what it was does the highlight box disappear again?

I have not reverted back to any other themes and was just happy to have the highlighted box back.

I also did not change to another wallpaper since the original is working.

Thank you.  Mine wouldn't even show me the text. I tried everything I could and nothing.  Changed my theme and it fixed the problem.  Thank you since support was so helpful.. not really but you were.

I am having this problem with my Roku Ultra but not with my the Roku streaming stick 4k+.

I've tried restarting the Ultra and searching through the system options, I see no settings for this.  It does display which a is selected in small font.

I did as Wolfy suggested, changed the wallpaper settings to default, it worked.

I think my NON- highlighted apps happen when my wall paper some how changed to a snow scene.
